Hello from Shawn

Okay – some of you have asked to hear from me, and my husband has been encouraging me for some time to say hi to everyone.  So here I am saying Hello!!

The last 3 years has been quite the journey.

Let me say first off, that Bob and I are doing awesome!!  Our kids are doing awesome!!  We all have come through much hurt, pain, tears and growth (yes growth) and I am so very proud of all of my family.  I can truly say I am not the same person I was 3 years ago.  I have learned  a lot about myself, about my husband, about my children and about my God.

You see, I was brought up in church all my life.  I lived in a wonderful Christian home all my life.  I can honestly say, I never experienced any kind of abuse, loss or pain personally.  So, I can truly tell you the last few years have been the hardest thing I have ever had to walk through in my life. Until the last 3 years, I never really had to rely on, or rest in, the “strength” of God.  But, He has proven to me over and over His power and I am so thankful for Him.  He has stretched me in so many ways and it “feels good”!  I am excited to find my purpose and my marriage’s purpose in Him!!!

I am very thankful and proud of my husband and the humility, love, compassion and vulnerability he has shown me over the last few years.  We are now better friends, lovers and spouses to each other.  He has answered all a lot of hard questions.  And, there were a lot to answer.  He has loved and supported me through all the anger, hurt and pain, even when I wasn’t so easy to listen to or deal with.  He persevered and did everything he needed to do for “us” and for me.  He too, is not the man he used to be.  I am thankful for his willingness to completely surrender and change himself as God has directed him for the betterment of our marriage and home.  If he had not of been willing to submit to God through all this we would not have made it.

Today, I am so happy in my marriage and home.  While I am not thankful for the event that we experienced, I am thankful for the result of it.  We experience daily, Agape, Phileo and Eros love (well maybe not daily in the Eros area – hehe – but it is where it needs to be).  Thank you Jesus for restoring my marriage and my home.

Well, I’ve gone long enough for now but I will be talking to you again soon!

Thanks for your prayers!!

Living… Laughing… Loving…

From the heart,

Shawn

PS – GIve her some feedback (Comments below)…she did great!

Absolutely beautiful Shawn!!! It takes a lot of courage, strength, and a whole lot of faith in God to come to the place you are right now! To walk through the storm & come out of the storm a changed person for the better is simply inspiring!
You are truly a role model to me! And a perfect example of what a wife & child of God should be. You took a vow before God to love “for better or for worse” and thats exactly what you did. Not a lot of people can do or say they’ve done that!!!
    Thank YOU!!!
Also, I wanted to say thank you to you & your husband for being open & honest about what you’ve been through. I know I can come through ANY situation…

So glad you’re doing this. I relate, raised in a sheltered home, spent most of my life under a rock. I’ve told Mike over the past few years that he exposed me to more of the world than I ever cared to know existed. But, like you God’s grace is sufficient and I too have learned and grown through the pain and the power of forgiveness. So glad I didn’t go the way of the world and that I chose the road less traveled. Looking forward to your future posts. Love you Shawn.

How wonderful is it to hear such awesome words … I have prayed many nights for your family to experience exactly what it is now. I can’t express how happy it makes me and how encouraging it is to learn that I too can overcome anything as long as I have God in my life. A lot of that I learned from both of you. I pray that God continues to bless your family.

    Shawn & PB –
You both are amazing people – with all that has passed you still SHINE!

Shawn – I have alaways admired you and even more now – one day I hope to have a faith as deep and as strong as yours – Proud to call you friend!

PB – I also admire you for “laying it all out there” – the road you and your family have traveled I know has not been easy – but again you are a shining light of what can be! Years ago every sermon you gave seemed to be speaking directly to me – I asked you “have you been peeping in my windows?” – That still holds true today. God is AMAZING.

I thank BOTH of you for showing me the way and not giving in.

Love ya – and God Bless you both and your amazing family.

    Shawn,
Its been too long. Found your blog. I have prayed for you both for years now. When Bobby and I were at Lee I always knew he would go home and marry you. God’s plan never changed. Keep writing and letting people know about the joy in your life. So thankful that when we trust in HIM he can bring us through everything. I love you both!
Keep your faith and trust in HIM….
    Love, Jennifer
